Leading From the Heart Awards 2026
The Les Dames d'Escoffier International (LDEI) has just announced the recipients of this year's Leading From the Heart Awards, which honors women in the 10-parish Greater New Orleans area making an impact in hospitality, food justice, and sustainability fields.
Event Details
The awards will be presented on Wednesday, March 18 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Specifically, the event will take place during breakfast at Nolé at 2001 St. Charles Ave. in an event that is open to the public. Tickets cost $55, with proceeds from the event supporting the organization's mission to advocate and advance women in food, beverage, and hospitality fields.
"Our chapter is proud to invest in leaders whose impact extends far beyond their own kitchen or business," LDEI Vice President of Philanthropy Rebecca Schattman said in a press release. "These grants support community-centered work—from bringing fresh produce to neighborhoods that need it, to expanding career opportunities for young people, to uplifting and mentoring service industry professionals who keep this city moving."
Featured Recipients
The honorees for this year's award ceremony reflect this mission, with individuals working in food justice and urban farming to workforce development and mentorship efforts in restaurant settings. Each award recipient will receive a $2,500 grant.

Company Award recipient Ashley Webb, who is the co-founder of Barcelo Gardens, is being recognized for transforming an abandoned lot in the Ninth Ward into a community garden, farmer's market, and educational space. Webb's work in this location has increased access to fresh produce through pop-up sales, farmer partnerships, and gardening classes. She will receive a $2,500 grant to support farm infrastructure, increase community distribution, and maintain her efforts.

Executive Chef and Culinary Officer at Café Reconcile Martha Wiggins will also be recognized with the Individual Award for her commitment to mentoring young individuals facing employment barriers. Through Café Reconcile's workforce development model, Wiggins helped train and guide young, local individuals toward culinary careers that are sustainable. Her award funds will strengthen her program and expand opportunities for those she helps.

Lead Bartender at Fritai Chassidy Walker will also be recognized with the Individual Award. Walker is a mentor and advocate in the service industry, supporting hospitality professionals. With the award funds, she will pursue her education, strengthen her training, and support local organizations by expanding opportunity and access for young bartenders and hospitality professionals.
The New Orleans chapter of LDEI was founded in 2017 and supports women across the nearby area through grants, mentorship, and professional development programs. The annual breakfast event serves as both a fundraiser and celebration of the recipients.
