Krewe Bohème 2026
Krewe Bohème is set to parade through the French Quarter and Marigny as part of the 2026 Mardi Gras schedule. The walking parade brings together artists and performers in a green-themed Carnival event.
The parade is scheduled for Friday, January 30 at 7 p.m, designating it as one of the earlier parades of the Carnival season.
The parade, founded in 2018, is a walking krewe consisting of artists, performers, and musicians. In general, instead of traditional floats, the krewe consists of smaller sub-krewes, each responsible for its own costumes, themes, and throws.

Theme and Royalty
The krewe's own website notes that for 2026 their theme is "Midnight in the Garden of Absinthe." Unlike typical Carnival Krewes, the Krewe Bohème does not have a traditional queen or king. Rather, it is led by the "Supreme Green Fairy," according to the website, and Helen Gillet is this year's Supreme Green Fairy.
On the Krewe Bohème website, it was mentioned that Carnival historian Errol Laborde noted that Krewe Bohème reflects the growing role of women-led organizations in Carnival season—a trend seen across various newer krewes. He has also pointed to the krewe's choice of the Green Fairy as its symbolic royalty, a reference to absinthe, as fitting to the history of the French Quarter and Marigny, as well as to earlier walking parades like the Krewe of Clones and Krewe du Vieux.

Route and Throws
The 2026 Krewe Bohème parade will travel through parts of the French Quarter and the Marigny neighborhood, following a route that typically includes areas near Frenchmen Street, Royal Street, and Rampart Street. While exact route details will be finalized closer to parade day due to French Quarter construction, observers can expect the parade to pass through popular gathering spots in these neighborhoods.
The krewe emphasizes the use of handmade, eco-friendly or consumable throws that reflect the individuality and creativity of its sub-krewes. The focus on sustainable throws comes from the krewe's own mission and culture.
Place in the Mardi Gras Season
Krewe Bohème has become a regular part of the early Mardi Gras calendar in New Orleans. The parade typically takes place shortly after Twelfth Night and ahead of many Uptown parades, incorporating a walking procession that differs from the float-based events later in the season.
Rather than using large floats or corporate sponsorships, Krewe Bohème relies on participation from its members and inner krewes. The parade's route through the French Quarter and Marigny places it among a group of Carnival events that highlight walking krewes and neighborhood-based traditions.
