American Revolution: The Augmented Exhibition

In honor of the United States' 250th Anniversary, the Historic New Orleans Collection will be premiering American Revolution: The Augmented Exhibition on March 20.

This exhibit will feature 20 defining moments in the founding of the United States using 360-degree reconstructions. The exhibit is an augmented reality, which will allow visitors to feel like they are experiencing these events firsthand.

HNOC's Mission

The Historic New Orleans Collection, or HNOC, is a non-profit organization that is committed to preserving the culture and history of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast as a whole. The HNOC is a museum, research center, and publisher that works to educate people about the stories of this historic city.

American Revolution: The Augmented Exhibition

The exhibit will use handheld HistoPad technology, so visitors can have a customized experience based on their preferences and interests. The HNOC is utilizing this technology to give guests an even more engaging museum experience. Viewers can experience events and places from different time periods, such as the signing of the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia.

In addition to displaying national stories, the exhibit will focus on the involvement the Gulf South had in the Revolutionary War, such as Louisiana soldiers facing British troops. "We hope visitors will come away understanding that the American Revolution is a much bigger story than what they may have learned in school, and that important events happened in places like Pensacola and New Orleans that affected the course and outcome of the war," said HNOC Chief Curator Jason Wiese in a press release.

An Experience for Everyone

The American Revolution exhibit will have activities for visitors of all ages, with selfie activities and a digital treasure hunt for younger visitors. In addition to English, the exhibit will be available in Spanish, German, and French. HNOC will also provide inclusive technology so that the exhibit is accessible to all.

The American Revolution exhibit is produced and designed by the French company Histovery and is recognized by the French Embassy as part of the America 250 France initiative, which commemorates 250 years of Franco-American partnership.
