The Gumbo Festival 2026
One of Louisiana's most cherished fall traditions returns. The Gumbo Festival will take place October 9 to October 11 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor in Westwego.
Admission is $5 with children three feet tall and under admitted free of charge. All-day and all-weekend passes are available which includes a pay-one-price carnival ride wristband. Single ride tickets are also available.
History of the Gumbo Festival
Since 1973, the Gumbo Festival has been an annual celebration that fosters a shared tradition that is enjoyed by generations of Louisianians. The three-day celebration supports Our Lady of Prompt Succor, a historic church that continues to serve the Westwego community for more than a century. Festival proceeds support the ongoing mission and ministries of Our Lady Prompt Succor, ensuring that its impact as a community landmark continues for generations to come.
Each year, the Gumbo Festival welcomes thousands of family and tourists for a weekend to celebrate everything that makes South Louisiana beautiful, from its one-of-a-kind dishes to outstanding live entertainment.
What to Expect at This Year's Festival
Get ready to experience an incredible weekend of award-winning gumbo, an A-list entertainment lineup, family activities, and more! As the most anticipated event, the Louisiana gumbo cook-off will feature teams of amateur and professional chefs in multiple gumbo categories. Winners will receive a cash prize and bragging rights as festival-goers will have a chance to experience some of Louisiana's finest dishes.
Numerous bands from NOLA Rouge to Imagination Movers, as well as the Southern Charm Dance Team and even more entertainers, will grace multiple stages across the three-day weekend. Whether country, children's music, or dancing is your jam, there's something for everyone at the Gumbo Festival.
The beloved Miss Creole Gumbo Pageant celebrates young women who embody grace, talent, and gumbo pride. The Queen serves as an ambassador for the festival and the Our Lady Prompt Succor community throughout her one-year reign by participating in community events, representing Louisiana culture, and inspiring the next generation of women leaders. Placements will be given to the people's choice, first runner up, and, of course, Miss Creole Gumbo 2026.
Carnival rides, games, and crafts for all ages await the children at this exciting family-friendly ensemble. Parents can indulge in the local vendors serving everything from crafts and merchandise to sweet treats.
