Billy Howerdel of A Perfect Circle and VOWWS played to a thin but appreciative crowd at the House of Blues. Shows in New Orleans during the summer can be hit or miss at best as far as occupancy, but the talent is still amazing. Billy and company didn't even seem to notice and played as if the place was completely packed.

If you came into the Billy Howerdel show expecting an A Perfect Circle greatest hits show, it wouldn't be that far off as that's how he's being marketed, but this isn't that show and Billy is touring on his first solo album and tour's sake, What Normal Was.

His solo material is a vast departure from that of A Perfect Circle. If you were to play a track from each band, you wouldn't have any idea that they each had a bad member in common. He has described his music as a combination of Blue Oyster Cult and The Cure. I can hear heavy late 80s and early 90s electronic-synth pop. The set was this album plus a cover from one of his earlier bands, Ashes Divide. Billy brought along goth due VOWWS to open the show. While their set was a whole lot darker than Billy's, it led well into the main event. You can see more pictures here.
