10 Best NOLA Art Galleries

There's something so magical about looking at works by local artists. Sometimes, you can even tell what inspired them. New Orleans is no exception.

Exploring these local art galleries will have you exclaiming, "I've been there!" or "I've seen something just like that!" That's what great art does. It creates a sense of community, and, especially here in New Orleans, we have no shortage of that.

1. 812 Royal Gallery

Founded by Kyla Bernberg, 812 Royal Gallery is testament to the paradox that is New Orleans: historical yet modern and opulent yet rough-edged. 812's art selection showcases the charming duality of the city it calls home. Every first Friday of the month, 812 participates in "First Fridays," where certain Royal Street galleries offer extended hours from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Guests can peruse new pieces, meet artists, sip wine, and meet other art enthusiasts.

LeMieux Galleries has been active since 1983 and highlights Southern artists with unique and thought-provoking exhibits. Currently, LeMieux is featuring the "And Now For Something New, Vol 7" collection by Rob Carpenter. On August 9 at 2 p.m., LeMieux will host Phil Sandusky as he speaks about the making of his "Painting Katrina" line, depicting the devastation in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. These paintings will be on display in LeMieux during this event. LeMieux is also offering a 10th anniversary sale right now in honor of 10 years since welcoming new ownership.

3. Casey Langteau Art Gallery

Filled with self-proclaimed "happy art," Gallery Rinard is full of colorful and playful pieces, including James Dean's Pete the Cat. Gallery Rinard's signature is fun and funky pieces that bring out the child in all of us but are also sophisticated enough to make wonderful wall decor. Artists featured in Gallery Rinard include Matt Rinard, Fabio Napoleoni, Ames Romig, Georg Williams, Sean Friloux, Chris Menconi, and Charles Fazzino.

5. Becky Fos

Bright colors are the name of the game for Becky Fos. Her vibrant color palette infuses life and energy into all of her paintings. Much of her work features Southern imagery with a fresh and vivid look that is unapologetically and unmistakably "Becky." In addition to the flagship gallery, check out Gallery B, Fos' satellite location in the Renaissance Arts Hotel.

6. Spillman-Blackwell Fine Art

As of June 28, 2025, Spillman-Blackwell Fine Art has gone fully virtual, the model the gallery began with in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic after five years in their Camp Street space. Dedicated to uplifting undiscovered talents and creating a community of artists and art-lovers, Spillman and Blackwell curate unique and style-bending pieces. While their physical gallery is no longer open, you can still purchase pieces from the gallery online via DM or email.

7. Frenchy

Frenchy has something for everyone. From a sports collection to a line of abstracts, Frenchy's gallery is a unique mix of subjects tied together with one iconic style. Whether you're looking for a painting of your favorite Jazz Fest performance or a Saints game, chances are Frenchy's painted it. If he hasn't, you can book Frenchy for a "live action" painting of your event.

Since 1998, Ferrera Showman Gallery has been a nexus for up-and-coming artists. The space leans into contemporary art through various mediums, including painting, photography, sculpture, video, and installations. Ferrera Showman Gallery also prides itself on curating a selection of works from across the globe to maximize the breadth of its perspectives and expressions. The gallery also offers online-exclusive exhibitions, the current one of which is "Fast and Loose" by Becca Fuhrman.

9. Arthur Roger

Pioneering contemporary art in New Orleans, Arthur Roger Gallery has remained at the forefront of the city's art galleries for nearly 50 years. Cutting-edge and innovative in its approach, Arthur Roger Gallery features exhibitions designed to create discussion and challenge expectations. The gallery's next exhibition will begin on August 2, 2025, and will run through September 13, 2025. Entitled "In the Age of Anxiety," the display will highlight a line of pieces by Luis Cruz Azaceta.

10. Zana Brown Studio Gallery

Zana Brown's art is enchanting and ethereal—understated enough to decorate any space but alluring enough to start a conversation. Many of Brown's pieces are rooted in a soft femininity and even her abstract works manage to convey a certain gentleness. The gallery is open by appointment, but Brown writes on her website that walk-ins can always find somebody there on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10 p.m. to 3 p.m.
