With the announcement of the closure of some of our favorite
festivals for next year, Arts
District New Orleans (ADNO) gave us a bit
of cheerful news and something to look forward to. The district will be opening
Holiday Cheers, a holiday-themed art walk to take the place of its usual
First Saturday gallery opening on December 5. They are welcoming patrons to an
all-day rolling even that will feature extraordinary art exhibitions and drinks
along Julia Street, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
This year, the various galleries will be offering "passports," and at Jonathan Ferrara Gallery, complimentary champagne will be provided by VenueApp. The
passports can be used to mark which galleries the guest has visited, as well as
enter them into a giveaway. Once the passport is filled, it will serve as a
raffle ticket in a drawing for a night in a fancy penthouse suite at the Windsor
Court Hotel. Not only will you be staying in a top-floor room, but the winner
will also have access to the Club Lounge on the 22nd floor of the hotel, which
offers sweeping views of the city and fantastic food and beverage offerings.
Since the walk takes place all across Julia Street, be sure to visit Sofia NOLA to pick up a "Jingle Juice"—a
cocktail made especially for the Holiday Cheers event.
In addition to the main walk-through, there will also be an
online art auction for pieces from different galleries, giving you the
opportunity to snag a good gift for someone in your family—or yourself. ADNO is
also hosting a coat drive for Eddie's House through December 8, to help collect
gently used or new cold-weather clothing for homeless veterans. There will be
several drop-off points at different galleries along Julia Street, so if you'd
like to bring the coats with you while you attend the event, you can do
something nice while you're having a good time.
