Yes Mama! Fund

The Yes Mama! Portrait Exhibit is raising awareness for the maternal health crisis in New Orleans. Yes Mama! is an upcoming nonprofit that believes in improving the quality of life for people who give birth by creating a safe birthing experience through midwives, connection, and mutual aid.
The exhibit will display portraits and interviews with 20 mothers in New Orleans focusing on their experiences with maternal health care in the city. The portraits for the exhibit are being sold in a silent auction with all the proceeds going towards improving maternal health care in New Orleans.
Donations are welcomed and go towards creating a safer and more supported experience for giving birth.
The Exhibit & Event

The featured portraits share powerful messages about motherhood and community. Jeremy Tauriac is a New Orleans local that prides his work for its storytelling and connection.
An interactive art installation called "The Holding" by local artist Monique Lorden brings to life the womb and the power it holds. The installation will be accompanied with sound scapes composed by Lauren Fuller.
The exhibit will feature a maternal health market, providing resources for midwives and postpartum care. There will also be a discussion about maternal health care led by Charm Taylor, who is an artist, musician, and mother.
NOVAC's 2025 Filmmaker Cohort will feature a first look at two new documentaries. The documentaries are focused on advancing Black maternal health through the stories of birthers and birth workers.
Check out the back courtyard for tarot card readings, a drum circle workshop with Majek Fingers Drumming School, DJ set by PRO$PER JONE$, and cocktails from The Junglebird.
The event is free and open to all. Come celebrate community while learning about the issues faced in the maternal health world.
