New Orleans & Company Teams Up with WWOZ
New Orleans & Company has partnered with WWOZ to release the New Orleans & Company Musician Database, comprised of over 200 New Orleans musicians, during this "Music Month." The database was created in effort to support and honor the musicians of New Orleans and with a mission to grow the record set to encompass more genres.
In recent years, New Orleans & Company partnered with WWOZ to produce their Livewire calendar's music events to NewOrleans.com visitors. The Musician Database is the evolution of the partnership by connecting the Livewire music calendar to dedicated pages on the musicians and bands performing on any given night. This project enables the community's musicians to showcase their talent and discography to roughly half a million website visitors that want to support New Orleans music.
Each page in the database highlights the artist through images, a biography, genre, related acts and artists, links to artists' websites/social media handles, Spotify playlists, and performance schedules.
Artists like James Andrews are excited about "the power [the database] has to do in terms of bringing attention to musicians" through information and links promoting upcoming events.
Walt Leger III, president and CEO of New Orleans & Company, said in a press release, "This will be an ever-evolving feature on NewOrleans.com and we look forward to continuing our work with WWOZ to add more artists to this list and add more features to the listings themselves in the weeks and months ahead, in addition to adding other culture genres."
Each artist in the database will have a unique URL. James Andrews' URL can be viewed here.
