The COVID-19 pandemic has changed travel and vacations as we know it. During the earlier months of the outbreak, it seemed as if travel would not be possible in the foreseeable future. But now, just in time for National Cheap Flight Day on Sunday, August 23, cities worldwide begin and continue to reopen, and several deals in flights have appeared that are impossible to miss out on. Whether you are planning an impromptu getaway, or you are just seeking a break from online work, here are five cheap flights to help you get started on your trip.

1.Los Angeles for $99

If you are a movie, showbiz, or fashion fanatic, Los Angeles is the city for you. Airlines like Delta, Spirit, and WestJet will be operating nonstop flights in the months of August and September for less than a hundred bucks.

2.Hawaii for $443

Flights from New Orleans to Hawaii are usually around $900 round trip. If you have always dreamed of visiting the island's pristine beaches and breathtaking landscapes, now is your time to do so at half the price! Some of Hawaii's islands will make for a perfect socially distant getaway during the early months of the fall. United Airlines will be the main provider of these discounted flights to the islands, starting in the month of October through November.

3.Cancun, Mexico, for $178

Flights to Mexico from New Orleans are usually priced around $300 but American Airlines will be offering a number of discounted flights to Cancun in October. If you are looking for a cultural getaway which combines beautiful landscapes, amazing cuisine, and relaxing beaches, Cancun is the destination for you.

4.New York City for $99

The Big Apple awaits you! Visit some of the city's world reknowned landmarks or spend your days discovering brunch spots and trendy coffee shops. Some of New York City's main museums such as the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art have scheduled plans for reopening in late August. Delta and JetBlue will be operating most of these cheap flights to New York City from New Orleans, starting in September.

5.Chicago for just $34

If you are a lover of food, architecture, or art, Chicago is calling you. Try Chicago's world-famous deep-dish pizza, admire some of the city's intricate buildings, or enjoy some blues and jazz music. JetBlue and Delta are your best bets for cheaper flights, starting in September.
