Honoring Veterans & History

On November 11, The National WWII Museum is offering free admission for veterans of all conflicts to join the Veterans Day Commemoration Ceremony, beginning at 11 a.m.

Held in the US Freedom Pavilion at the museum, this ceremony will include a presentation of the Mayor's Military Advisory Committee Veteran of the Year award, remarks from Major General Andrée Carter, and a salute to all servicemembers for their sacrifices. Registration for this event is available online and can be attended in person or via live stream.

Additional Programming

This ceremony also marks the opening of a special exhibit entitled "Fighting for the Right to Fight: African American Experiences in World War II." This exhibit explores the role of over two million Black servicemembers before, during, and after WWII. Additional programming for "Fighting for the Right to Fight" will occur on November 16 during the museum's Family and Military Appreciation Block Party. This event is included with general admission to the museum but will be free for Louisiana residents and US military families.
