Uptown Funk you up, Uptown Funk you up! The Funky Uptown Krewe will be ringing in the Carnival season once again with its annual streetcar parade on Twelfth Night, which is Thursday, January 6, 2022. The krewe will ride through Uptown New Orleans, starting from Bourrée at 7:05 p.m. and stopping at Fat Henry's at 8:30 p.m.

"Bounce Back NOLA," which is the 2022 theme, will encourage revelers to support local businesses and musicians in the community. This will be extremely vital in their recovery from COVID-19 restrictions, as well as Hurricane Ida.

Since 2019, the Funky Uptown Krewe has encouraged revelers to support local businesses and musicians along the St. Charles Avenue streetcar line. Guests were able to catch the krewe's signature throws such as logo cups, koozies, toys, beads, and hand-decorated, bedazzled vinyl records, plus watch DJ Mannie Fresh perform as the streetcar rolled along the route. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, however, Mardi Gras parades were cancelled, leaving the krewe no choice but to change plans.

To make up for lost parade time, the krewe hosted a socially distanced scavenger hunt event where participants searched left and right for vinyl records along the parade route. Although different, the event was a success and the krewe hopes to turn it into a Mardi Gras tradition.
