UNO Student Production Delivers the Jokes

Get ready to laugh your socks off at the opening production of Theatre UNO's newest season.

Theatre UNO in the School of the Arts' 2022-23 season will open with the comedy Fully Committed by playwright Becky Mode, who has contributed writing credits to television shows like NBC's Smash and Netflix's Unbelievable.

The show, which is a one-act production directed by UNO graduate student Bill Ware, follows an-out-of-work actor named Sam Peliczowski (played by UNO graduate student Andrew Stroud) who handles the reservation line at a highly-rated restaurant in Manhattan. While dealing with a barrage of phone calls from people desperate to get a table reservation, he must also juggle preparing for an audition at the Lincoln Center, his recently widowed dad, and more craziness than he knows how to deal with.

Theatre UNO in the School of the Arts helps prepare students for the performing arts market and gives them valuable experience with acting, directing, and designing for stage and screen. The next show in Theatre UNO's 2022-23 season, titled Is God Is, will run from November 11 to 19.

The play, which runs from September 23 to October 1, will take place at the University of New Orleans' Lab Theater in The Performing Arts Center. General admission is $15, while tickets for seniors and UNO alumni are $10 per person. UNO faculty, staff, and students with a valid ID can see the performance for free.
