Music for a Cause
Tulane University is excited to present the Tipping Point Music Fest on Friday, November 8. Hosted at the Orpheum Theater, the event will be headlined by 13-time Grammy Award-winner Emmylou Harris; rock musician Grace Potter; and blues, R&B, and soul master Christone "Kingfish" Ingram, alongside multiple other bands and performers.
Enjoy what New Orleans does best: live music! Accompanying these headliners are popular, local, performers including Tony Hall and his band Dumpstaphunk, bassist and singer for the Meters George Porter Jr., and hit musician Ivan Neville. Experience classic Louisiana music—from jazz, blues, brass band, and more—whilst supporting a greater cause. Taking place during Tulane's Wave '24 Homecoming, Reunion, and Family Weekend, the Tipping Point Music Fest is a fantastic way to enjoy or introduce friends and family to the New Orleans music scene.
A concert series dedicated to raising funds for scholarship programs, the Tipping Point Music Fest's donations and funds go to supporting qualified Tulane students in attending the university despite their economic background. Over 85% of undergraduate students at Tulane receive some form of financial aid, whether that be merit-based scholarships or need-based aid. Supporting these scholarship programs is of the utmost importance in ensuring that Tulane can continue to remain an accessible institution, so students can pursue higher education.
