The Trombone Shorty Foundation

The Trombone Shorty Foundation is an organization founded by the New Orleans native Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews with the intention of helping the youth of New Orleans pursue their talents and goals in the music industry.
The organization offers three different programs for students between the ages of 12 to 24 who are interested in achieving their musical goals and aspirations. The Trombone Shorty Academy, the Masterclass Series, and the Cultural Experiences Program all offer a set of guided classes and experiences to educate young musicians.
The Trombone Shorty Academy is a free, after school program for young musicians in New Orleans ages 12 to 18. Students enrolled in the Trombone Shorty Academy are taught by a set of artists educators on how to improve their skills while also learning the history that is intertwined in New Orleans music.
The Masterclass Series is a free program for musicians between the ages of 14 to 24 that focuses on a range of topics including songwriting, beat making, music production, social media, and more. There are always different classes happening that can be found on the Trombone Shorty Foundation's website.
The Cultural Experiences Program gives young musicians between the ages of 14 to 24 a chance to travel out of state and out of the country to showcase their talents and make connections in the music industry. This program gives the youth a chance to experience with playing professional concerts, providing networking opportunities, and facilitating cultural exchanges.
