On November 3, Son of a Saint is hosting a dinner to raise money for 20 mentees to go on an 11 day trip to Ghana Africa. On this trip, the mentees will be immersed in Ghanian culture being exposed to the local outdoors, service opportunities, and more while learning about the history of Ghana. The fundraiser dinner will feature food cooked by one of the lead chefs at Addis Nola, Chef Prince Lobo. Addis Nola is a treasured Louisiana establishment, as it is one of only two Ethiopian restaurants in the state. The dinner will feature a traditional West African cuisine and will contain multiple courses.

What is Son of a Saint?

Son of a Saint is an organization that aims to provide opportunities, guidance, and encouragement to young boys who have lost their fathers. Son of a Saint acknowledges the fact that growing up without a father is often very difficult, which can lead to challenges with confidence, anger, and feelings of abandonment. When issues like these are not acknowledged, they can leave young boys vulnerable to unhealthy habits and behaviors. Son of a Saint's goal is to step in and provide positive influences, guidance, and experiences that will set young boys up for a happy, successful life.

How does Son of a Saint Create a Positive Impact?

Son of a Saint offers opportunities that can have a life-long impact on their mentees. They offer access to counselors and mental health specialists to help learn to understand difficult and confusing emotions experienced while growing up. Mentees are also offered recreational activities like yoga, horseback riding, music, fishing, chess, and more that allow them to become well rounded individuals. Son of Saint offers tutoring, one on one mentoring, college readiness help, and even tuition assistance to help launch mentees into a future of success and achievement. Finally, as mentioned they offer immersion trips to broaden mentees perspectives on the world and form unique, lifelong memories.
