Halloween Pop-Up Bars in NOLA
New Orleans loves Halloween, and several bars are more than happy to dive right into spooky season with extreme decor, limited-time drinks, and mischief.
Take a dip into the Black Lagoon opening on October 14 at Anna's in the Bywater. Created by Erin Hayes and Kelsey Ramage, this cute and creepy experience offers excellent cocktails that will have you screaming. The co-founders said about Black Lagoon, "Black Lagoon has always been a place where Halloween fans, cocktail enthusiasts and everyone in between can come together, and we're excited to continue building that world through new venues, new creations and unexpected surprises this season."
The Haunting will take over the tikiness of Latitude 29 until October 31. The harrowing experience will be open every night of the week starting at 3 p.m. (noon on Saturdays). The specialty drinks offered, spirited and not, include Widow's Whisper, Scream-sicle, Poison Apple, Liquid Lobotomy, and Clown Pear-anoia.
Gather up the coven head to The Eliza Jane to experience the Halloween-season pop-up experience Impractical Magic. The witchy experience lies in the courtyard decorated with lovely items like floating candles and earthy moss which provide the prettiest backdrop for your selfies. The menu of drinks may sound scary, such as the Full Moon Martini and the Belladonna Sour, but the heart and soul will be replenished by these potions. Impractical Magic will be open at 6 p.m. daily; just bypass the interior bar, take a left to the courtyard, and be immersed in this magical splendor.
Much more than a decorated bar, Haus Obscura at Republic is an entire theatrical experience that makes you weave through several decadent rooms to encounter strange and wonderful creatures performing acrobatics while others give you a choice on which passageway to go down. One hour may seem like a much longer time as you choose your own adventure inside the Haus Obscura.
