A Fairytale Getaway at Beau Rivage
Some weekends are
relaxing, some are entertaining, and a few manage to be both. My recent stay at
Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi was exactly that. It was delightfully
luxurious, with great food, family-friendly fun, and an unforgettable evening
at Shrek the Musical.
While Shrek the Musical
is certainly a fantastic experience for families, it also makes for a
surprisingly wonderful date night. Whether you're bringing the kids along for
an exciting adventure or enjoying a romantic getaway with your significant
other, the entire resort has embraced the whimsical world of Shrek in a way
that appeals to guests of all ages.
From the moment we
arrived, we were reminded why Beau Rivage remains one of the most beautiful
resorts on the Gulf Coast. The elegant lobby and stunning architecture is
beautifully maintained to create an upscale atmosphere while still feeling
welcoming and comfortable.
During our stay, the
resort was transformed into a playful fairytale world, complete with adorable
Shrek-themed activities, photo opportunities, and life-sized character figures
scattered throughout the property. Everywhere we turned, there was another fun
surprise waiting to be discovered. The prize-winning scavenger hunt around the
resort was a popular one. We saw many littles and bigs taking pictures to send
off for prizes.
Throughout the resort,
there were numerous Shrek-inspired activations and themed snacks that added to
the overall experience. Guests could even purchase souvenir refillable cups
that offered complimentary all-day soda refills at The Roasted Bean.
On show days, the theater concession stand also featured themed snack packs, popcorn, and freeze-dried candies hilariously titled Ogre Boogers, to fit perfectly into the swampy theme.

While all the festivities
were fantastic, I must say that one of my favorite parts of the stay was simply
enjoying the resort itself. We spent time relaxing by the gorgeous pool, which
offers ample seating, plenty of umbrellas, and attentive chair-side service.
The atmosphere was peaceful and inviting, making it easy to settle in for an
afternoon of sunshine and relaxation.
While lounging poolside,
we ordered a plate of nachos that was perfect for sharing, along with
refreshing piña coladas. The pool menu offers a plethora of tasty options,
making it easy to spend hours enjoying both the scenery and the food.
That evening, we dined at
Coraline's, Beau Rivage's seafood restaurant. The meal was a wonderful start to
our night and showcased the fresh Gulf flavors and elevated dining experiences
that the resort is known for.
After dinner and before
heading to the theater, we made a brief stop at LUX Lounge to sample two of the
Shrek-themed cocktails. The Swamp Glow Margarita was vibrant and refreshing,
while the Enchanted Ember Kiss offered a unique mix of flavors and was beautifully
dressed with both a strawberry and a jalapeño. It was a fun and creative way to
continue immersing ourselves in the fairytale theme before the show began.

The highlight of our
visit, of course, was Shrek the Musical. Running approximately two and a
half hours, the production was wonderfully funny, entertaining, and full of
heart. Seeing beloved characters including Shrek, Donkey, Princess Fiona, and
Lord Farquaad come to life on stage was a treat.
Produced and directed by
Jeb K. Rand of Rand Productions, Inc., the show reflects more than three
decades of experience creating family-friendly entertainment, Broadway
musicals, television specials, and theatrical productions.
The cast delivered
incredible performances, showcasing amazing vocal talent, impeccable comedic
timing, and engaging interactions with the audience. The humorous banter kept
both adults and children laughing throughout the show, while the heartfelt
moments reminded everyone of the story's enduring message about friendship,
courage, acceptance, and embracing what makes us unique.

What impressed me most was
how effectively the show appealed to every age group. Children were captivated
by the colorful characters and lively musical numbers, while adults appreciated
the clever humor and witty references woven throughout the performance.
The following morning, we
enjoyed breakfast at the resort's buffet, which offered a wide variety of
options and provided the perfect start to our day. Before leaving, we made one
final stop at The Roasted Bean to sample some of the resort's themed treats. We
tried the PB & J Cookie along with the Makin' Waffle Milkshake, both of
which were delicious and perfectly fit the playful spirit of the event. Other
tempting menu items included the Ogre Rings and the Far Away Parfait.

As our stay came to an
end, I found myself appreciating how thoughtfully Beau Rivage had brought the
world of Shrek to life. The themed food and drinks, interactive activities,
larger-than-life character displays, and exceptional stage production all worked
together to create an experience that felt immersive and memorable.
For those considering a
visit, tickets for Shrek the Musical start at just $25, with family
four-pack packages available. Guests looking for an even more memorable
experience can add the VIP package, which includes a post-show cast
meet-and-greet, a digital cast photo on stage, an exclusive show laminate, and
an autographed show poster.
Shrek the Musical is
currently performing at Beau Rivage Theatre through July 2, with weekday
performances at 7 p.m. and weekend performances at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. (dark
Mondays).
Whether you're planning a
family getaway, looking for a unique summer outing, or searching for a creative
date night idea, Beau Rivage's Shrek the Musical experience offers
something special for everyone. Between the luxurious accommodations,
outstanding dining, relaxing pool atmosphere, and a show that will leave you
smiling long after the curtain falls, this fairytale getaway is one I won't
soon forget.
