Salon de Jeanne d'Arc Returns
The beloved Krewe de Jeanne d'Arc is back honoring French culture by hosting a slew of events, but with a twist.
Organizers announced on August 19 that they will host their 15th annual Salon de Jeanne d'Arc Conference at two different locations for the first time. The Joan of Arc Project, widely known for its parade in the French Quarter, is inviting the city to a dose of French history, community, and conversations to explore and celebrate the legacy of Joan of Arc.

What Does Krewe de Jeanne d'Arc do?
This special group is dedicated to acknowledging and honoring Joan of Arc through its annual walking procession and other celebrations. Krewe de Jeanne d'Arc was founded by Amy Kirk Duvoisin in 2008 and is currently directed by captains Dr. Amanda Helm and Antoinette De Alteriis. For 14 years, the parade has recognized the courageous and heroic act of the military leader as she led the French Army against the English at Orléans during the Hundred Years War. It serves as a representation of Joan of Arc's time with the inclusion of horseback, eccentric characters, medieval music and throws, jugglers, puppets, and best of all, king cake.

Salon de Jeanne d'Arc Conference
The events are free to the public and aim to provide attendees with a unique experience by offering panels, presentations, and lectures featuring local scholars, authors, and artists. This year's theme is "From Women Warriors to Yat Catholics," and topics include Joan of Arc, her Medieval French context, and French heritage in New Orleans.
The festivities consist of two parts:
Part One: September 27 from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Old Ursuline Convent Museum located at 1112 Chartres St., New Orleans (in the French Quarter).
Part Two: October 4 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Jefferson Parish East Bank Regional Library at 4747 W. Napoleon Ave., Metairie.
Meaningful conversations will not be the only highlight as the conference is scheduled for attendees to witness live theater performances, medieval music, dancing, costumes, and the opportunity to mingle with the krewe's leaders and members. Current members can also purchase throws for the 18th annual walking parade that marches on Joan of Arc's birthday.
