Whether you are looking for a fun-way to get some exercise or a new activity to connect with friends, pickleball and tennis are enjoyable options. All-the-rage, it seems as though almost everyone has taken up these sports. If you are looking to support a good cause and enjoy a weekend of competition, food, and fun, then the 10th Annual Tennis and Pickleball "Fun-Raiser" is the event for you!
About the Event
Whether you're a tennis-pro or a pickleball novice, Raphael Village invites you to join in their 10th Annual Tennis and Pickleball "Fun-Raiser" on Saturday, October 5 and Sunday, October 6. Hosted at the City Park Pepsi Tennis Courts, games will be played from 9 a.m. through 3 p.m. and include a variety of players of different skill-levels.
The fun-filled day will include delicious food and beverage options from local vendors including Midway Pizza, the Dragonfly Cafe, Mockly Cocktails, Moise Wines, Jimmy Johns, and more, as well as live music by Rick Mocklin and the Southern Voice Band. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the event, and the top winnable experience will be a $1,000 shopping spree at Little Miss Muffin Children & Home Boutique.
All are invited to enjoy the sporty fun, and participants will be matched against players with the same skill-level. Registration for tennis-duos costs $150, and pickleball players are to register independently for $65 a player.
About the Cause
Proceeds from the event benefit Raphael Village, a nonprofit organization focused on providing community-focused, educationally-based, programs to help differently-abled individuals of all backgrounds and ages to develop vocational, social, and life skills. With multiple outreach programs and unique opportunity offerings, Raphael Village is an important staple of the New Orleans community, caring and supporting those who are differently-abled with compassion and kindness.
The Annual Tennis and Pickleball "Fun-Raiser" helps to fund the village's "The Guild" program. On a mission to give young adults who have down syndrome or are on the autism spectrum post-secondary education or vocational and artistic training, The Guild is a day-program that helps individuals to strengthen daily-life skills so that they may gain greater independence in both the home and the community. Supporting their program through the Tennis and Pickleball "Fun-Raiser" event helps to ensure the stability and longevity of Raphael Village's program.
