Bayou Bar is far more than just a watering hole. The sweet spot nestled in the Pontchartrain Hotel offers St. Charles Avenue views, a huge whiskey selection, and live music several nights of the week. On Thursday, March 19, music takes the forefront of the offerings. The bar's Musical Director Peter Harris is set to debut and celebrate the release of Peter Harris presents: Cryptic, Live at the Bayou Bar, Vol. 1. The album documents live performances at Bayou Bar by Harris on bass, Nicholas Payton on piano, Ricardo Pascal on saxophone, and Jamison Ross on drums.
Peter Harris described the new album, saying, "This album is a conversation between four seasoned musicians who know how to listen. I want the listener to hear us exploring ideas in real-time, without a safety net. We aren't chasing perfection; it's raw, it's unpredictable, and that's where the reward lives. It's a level of intimacy that simply can't be manufactured." The public is welcome to join the complimentary event starting with a reception at 7 PM and followed by live performances at 8 PM and 10 PM. It is advised to reserve a spot on the list here. Peter Harris Presents: Cryptic, Lice at the Bayou Bar, Vol. 1 is available on Bandcamp for digital download, and CDs are available at Bayou Bar and Louisiana Music Factory.
