Hospitality, embracing people, and amazing food is what the Kyiv City Ballet Company has been experiencing on the New Orleans leg of their tour. While their home is filled with turmoil, the Kyiv crew has been able to bring joy during these tumultuous times.
Performing with the New Orleans Ballet Association at the Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts, this group of incredibly talented dancers are set to perform tonight, Saturday, October 22nd, at 7:30 pm.
With their newly awarded key to the city, the Kyiv City Ballet received the most hospitable welcome to New Olreans last night at the Hyatt Regency, with amazing local music and delicious food.
Beginning their tour on February 23, the company unknowingly took what would be one of the last flights out of Ukraine. Not being able to return home, the company took shelter in France, as they performed all over Europe.
With New Orleans being their first stop in the USA, the Kyiv City Ballet is here to bring "Tribute to Peace". Arranged by Ukrainian choreographers, this show incorporates classical ballet with Ukrainian folk dance. Under the direction of former Mariinsky Theater artist Ivan Kozlov, this ballet is a phenomenal performance and display of the country's culture and beautiful-talented people.
