Building Up Young NOLA Women
A new leadership program, which is aimed at building up young NOLA women's confidence and skills, has been announced.
The program, which is entitled "Level Up" and was announced by New Orleans City Councilmembers Helena Moreno and Lesli Harris, is set up to help support young women in New Orleans become more prepared for the upcoming school year.
"I believe deeply in the potential of the young women of our city to be the next generation of leadership for our community," Councilmember Moreno said in a press release. "The 'Level Up' initiative is an opportunity to inspire and prepare these next-generation leaders for the academic year and beyond. I want to thank my colleagues and our community partners for stepping up to make this exciting programming possible."
The program, which will be hosted by Moreno and Harris, will be held at Southern University at New Orleans' Millie M. Charles School of Social Work, located at on 7000 Press Dr., on July 22 and July 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The sessions will be open to girls aged 10 to 17 and will feature guest speakers, giveaways, activities, and more.
"I'm thrilled to be co-hosting another leadership program for young women, this time aimed at a younger group than my Young Women's Leadership Academy. 'Level Up' will build on many of the skills our young women already have, allowing them to grow into tomorrow's leaders," Councilmember Harris said in a press release. "Just as important, this program will encourage them to believe in themselves and their futures as much as I do. Thank you to Councilmember Moreno for her partnership in this effort."
Space for the sessions is limited, so any young woman who is interested in attending "Level Up" should sign up by clicking HERE.
