Holiday Fun and Christmas Cheer
New Orleans' favorite celebration of the season of holiday cheer, NOLA Christmasfest, is coming back in late December 2022.
NOLA Christmasfest will celebrate its 9th year of bringing Christmas-themed fun to the Big Easy from December 21 to 30. The festival will take place inside of the Morial Convention Center and will be presented by Coca-Cola.
What to Enjoy at the Fest
There will be a ton of family-friendly activities for festivalgoers to enjoy when the festival opens up. According to NOLA Christmasfest's website, there will be almost 300,000 square feet of carnival rides, holiday décor, giant ice slides, and an ice-skating rink to explore. There will also be a giant Christmas tree, a giant wreath, and so much more to put all attendees into the holiday spirit.
Within the festival, The Big Freezy area will transport guests into an arctic playland. Not only will the area contain the ice rink and ice slides, it will also have a yuletide market, a court to play bocce ball, and a "polar pub" that will offer drinks like "The Grinch," eggnog daiquiris, wine, beer, and more.
Attendees should not miss the chance to meet with and ice skate with Kris Kringle himself. NOLA Christmasfest's Skating with Santa will take place on December 23 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Meeting Satna Claus will cost a separate ticket from the festival's general admission, but it will give families the opportunity to enjoy coffee, hot cocoa, donuts, and more with the jolliest elf around.
The festival will also offer Holiday Stage Wonder Workshops, where guests will take part in community partner interactive workshops that focus on different topics like Seasonal Science and Spirited Stories & Merry Making. Anyone interested must purchase admission to NOLA Christmasfest to participate.
NOLA Chistimasfest is also currently looking for volunteer entertainers who are interested in taking part in the festival directly. Dancers, choirs, musicians, and other festive folk are encouraged to apply. There are limited performance times available and selections are determined on a first-come, first-served basis. However, anyone accepted will be given complimentary admission and are provided professional technical support for their performance. If interested in volunteering, click HERE to apply.
For the 2022 edition of NOLA Christmasfest, guests will only be allowed admission during specific timeframes on specific days of their choosing. Most days will include a morning and an afternoon session and each session is four and half hours long with a limited capacity. In addition, this year's fest will be cashless. Only credit cards will be accepted for ticket purchases and onsite concessions. Early tickets for the festival will open sometime this fall.
