Calling All Artists in Louisiana

The 28th edition of the No Dead Artists: International Juried Exhibition of Contemporary Art, which will be hosted by Ferrara Showman Gallery on Julia Street, is looking for artist submissions.

The call is available until June 17, 2024, and the exhibition will be on display for the whole month of September and the first part of October. On September 20, 2024, from 5 to 9 p.m., there will be a welcoming celebration in connection with the Arts District New Orleans' First Saturday Gallery Openings.

Launched in 1995, the show aims to provide up-and-coming artists with a platform. Among the most renowned art shows in the South, No Dead Artists has established itself as a platform for consistently spotting promising young artists.

Primarily New Orleans artists were allowed to participate in the show in the 1990s; later, artists from all over Louisiana were added. The show grew in scope in 2010 to become a national juried show that welcomed submissions from artists across the country. In 2014, the call for entries extended worldwide.

For several artists, the show served as a launchpad, resulting in national media attention, acknowledgment, exhibition representation, and purchases by galleries and other notable collectors. To choose new artists with potential for creativity, the gallery welcomes a panel of well-known buyers and art experts annually.

A standalone exhibit at Ferrara Showman Gallery to be held the next year is given to the artist who wins the panel's grand prize. Of course, this isn't the only art exhibition in New Orleans that you can see and experience.
