On April 19, 2023, from 6 to 7:30 PM, New Orleans Jazz Market and New Orleans Opera will collaborate to give a video release party. With reservations, attendance is free. Soprano Joel Dyson will perform live musical choices, accompanied by JT Hassell.
The brand-new video series investigating the relationship between jazz and opera in New Orleans. Starting on April 20, 2023, they'll post seven 3- to 5-minute video interviews. The Alan Lomax and Jelly Roll Morton interviews at the Library of Congress served as the basis for this project.
Tyrone Chambers, Nadja Salerno-Sonneberg, Ricky Riccardi, Givonna Joseph, David Torkanowsky, Antiono Domino, and Judith Owen are among the local singers, composers, and musicians who are included in the interviews conducted by Gwen Thompkins and Music Inside Out.
