NOLA Media Celebrates the Holidays at Lucy's

NOLA Press Gather at Lucy's New Expanded Space

New Orleans media professional welcomed the holiday season by celebrating at the industry's Christmas Party, co-hosted by the Press Club of New Orleans and the New Orleans Association of Black Journalists. Locally-based journalists from all aspects of media set aside professional rivalries to share some holiday cheer, including WDSU's sportscaster Fletcher Mackel and WWL's sports director Doug Mouton.

The annual event took place at Lucy's Retired Surfer's Bar & Restaurant in the Warehouse Darts District in New Orleans. Fun and frivolity kicks off the holiday season with NAJB president Charisse Gibson and PCNO president Doug Mouton addressing the enthusiastic group together and toasting to the upcoming year ahead for the media industry and all who support it. The event offered a with a sneak preview to the extended event space at Lucy's Retired Surfer's Bar & Restaurant.

The additional space will add over 8,000 square feet of dining and drinking space, effectively doubling the size of the previous size. Lucy's will have its new expansion's official day-long grand opening party on Sunday, December 17, open to everyone—starting at 9 a.m. with complimentary Bloody Marys leading into a Saints vs. Giants watch party.
"It was great getting our two organizations together again, and the new space at Lucy's is incredible—an awesome night overall," said Mouton.

Members of both organizations agreed, exploring the upstairs space while enjoying beverages, including a "bartender special" created on the spot, while enjoying a wide array of food including grilled chicken, steamed vegetables, rice pilaf, and holiday-themed desserts.

The pleasant evening found guest spilling onto the expansive balcony with candle-lit hightop seating overlooking the city skyline. While many look forward to next year's party, a few excited attendees shared that they would be back Sunday to "keep the party going."
