In the midst of the United States gaining its first black female Supreme Court Justice, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, the NAACP celebrated their opening to this year's Essence Festival of Culture with an empowering event titled, "Biscuits, Beignets & Brunch." With the theme of "Black Women are Supreme," the event not only saluted the newly appointed Justice but it was also a display of black success and excellence. Hosted at The Historic Swoop-Duggins House, this private event had an array of delicious brunch dishes including biscuits with gravy, shrimp and grits, and of course the New Orleans famous Beignets. The room was filled with beautiful people networking and enjoying the dynamic NAACP panel along with rhythmic sounds by DJ Raj Smoove.
