New Orleans East Book Sale

The New Orleans East Book Sale will be held on July 10 and 11 this year at the East New Orleans Regional Library.

What is the New Orleans East Book Sale

The book sale, taking place at 5641 Read Blvd., puts together a selection of thousands of used books, allowing lower-income families and individuals to buy affordable books, with proceeds going directly to the Library Foundation of New Orleans.

The sale will be open from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, July 10, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 11. This event will include over 5,000 books, and children's books will be sold for $2 while most other books cost $4 or less.

Cash, credit cards, and Venmo payments will be accepted.

What is the Library Foundation of New Orleans?

The Library Foundation of New Orleans works to strengthen what it considers the most important aspect of the community: public libraries. It seeks to bridge the gap where public funding ends, reaching out to thousands of New Orleanians, distributing books to schools, shelters, and community spaces, and supporting all 14 of the city's public libraries.

The foundation also runs reading programs for children and families, provides adult education and workforce resources, and hosts cultural and creative programming.

How to Support the Library Foundation of New Orleans

The foundation hosts weekly at Carriage House Books at 5120 St. Charles Ave., on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All proceeds raised from these sales go directly to the Library Foundation. You can also buy from its Amazon or eBay stores.

Donations of new or gently used books, vinyls, and CDs are accepted at Carriage House Books during sale hours. You can also volunteer or donate directly to the foundation at supportlfno.org.
