Find Your Next Favorite Book
On Saturday, November 16, the Milton H. Latter Memorial Library will host a large book sale from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Unlike the weekly book sales held in the Latter Library Carriage House, this fall book sale will be held on the front porch of the library and will feature a diverse multitude of used books that patrons can purchase. Sold at a discounted price, the Latter Library's "Really Big Book Sale" is a fantastic way to fill your personal library!
The sale of these used books is incredibly important in funding New Orleans Public Library programs, including their Summer Fun Reading program, adult literacy classes, and other important community classes and resources.
The first hour of the book sale, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., is open exclusively to members of Friends of New Orleans public library, where they will have their first pick of books, DVDs, and more. From 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., the book sale will be open to the public for all to enjoy! Books have all been donated by book-lovers throughout Metro New Orleans, and volunteers of the library work year-round to prepare for the event.
New Orleans Public Libraries are a staple aspect of the local community, not only by providing access to education through literature and film, but because of the many activities and events that the libraries host yearly. From offering free flu-shots during the fall to job seeking resources, the library is a cornerstone for the New Orleans community and continuously sustaining the library's funding ensures that these programs can continue to run. Featuring resources like period supplies, the tool library, culture passes, bike locks, and more, community members can show their support and thanks for the library by purchasing from the book sale, in order to maintain these great activities.
