Lecture on Jewish Cemeteries
On Monday, November 13 at Metairie Cemetery, there will be a lecture at 6:30 p.m. on the Evolution of Jewish Cemeteries in New Orleans: Dispersed of Judah and Hebrew Rest Cemeteries.
Scholars Jakob Rosenzweig and Clifford Kern III will be speaking about the histories of two of New Orleans' oldest cemeteries, including the evolving of Jewish burial customs.
Tickets purchased in advance are priced at $10, and tickets bought at the door will be $15. A reception with wine will be held prior to the lecture from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
This lecture is hosted by the organization Save Our Cemeteries, which dedicates its time and effort to the preservation, promotion, and protection of New Orleans' historic cemeteries through restoration and education.
