Arts District New Orleans (ADNO) has now announced the return
of Jammin' on Julia, a spring art
walk and music festival hybrid event on May 1 from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., which
takes place along with the first Saturday gallery openings happening here in New Orleans.
ADNO welcomes all guests to a free, all-day walkthrough event that brings world
class art exhibitions and musical performances in select galleries. The
festival is perfect for getting familiarized with the city's historic Julia Street and
New Orleans's contemporary art, music, and cuisine.
All
are welcome to enjoy art, live music, and libation, as well as experience varied and delicious cuisines offered by many restaurants in the area. In
addition, there will be an online art auction included, which will feature
items from ADNO member galleries, giving guests the opportunity to acquire
works of art for personal or corporate collections.
In
partnership with Downtown Development District, International High School of
New Orleans, and New Orleans Art District, Jammin'
Arts Council and The Helis Foundation will be celebrating the reveal of You
Are What You Eat, a mural done by artist Jessica Strahan, from 3 p.m. to 5
p.m. at Legacy Park on 730 Baronne St. The event will also feature a youth arts
showcase, music by DJ Gamma Bloom, and a mini farmers market featuring Paradigm
Gardens and Farm to Funk Ferments.
Also, many local musicians will be performing in various different participating galleries along Julia Street during the event.
Social
distancing and masks are mandated in the galleries. A map/gallery guide with a music
schedule will be available at any of the participating galleries, courtesy of VenueApp. Art collectors and enthusiasts can
learn more about the event, auction, and music schedule by visiting Art District New
Orleans.
