Crowning the Queen
With
the Mardi Gras season on the way, New Orleans parade krewes all over start
preparing for Fat Tuesday in their own ways. For the New Orleans Baby Doll
Ladies, they chose to bestow their title of Grand Marshal of the Krewe to
Council Member Helena Moreno.
Since the beginning of this year, Council Member Moreno has worked with the New Orleans Baby Doll Ladies to help raise awareness and mobilize support for initiatives such as "Level Up" (a leadership program for girls from elementary to high school), "Dance with the Dolls" (a cultural and media arts apprenticeship program), and Second Harvest's "No Hunger Summer" campaign to feed children once the school year is over.

"As we continue our cherished traditions, we are thrilled to
announce our 2025 theme: 'The Queens of Mardi Gras!'" the Baby Doll Ladies shared in
an Instagram post, "Because that's exactly who we are—bold, fabulous, and
unstoppable. We are honored to introduce our Grand Marshal for this Mardi Gras
season: the phenomenal Helena Moreno! Your passion, leadership, and spirit make
you the perfect Queen to lead alongside us."
Through these initiatives, Council Member Moreno has exhibited what the New Orleans Baby Doll Ladies define as their core values for their Grand Marshals, by nurturing New Orleans' potential, caring for its community, and being an outspoken advocate for children's and women's issues.
With these
quintessential values, Grand Marshal Moreno will lead alongside the Krewe of New Orleans Baby Doll Ladies during their 10th anniversary walking parade on Fat Tuesday, March 4th, which includes a master performance at Gallier Hall and Lafayette Square. The event promises to be a memorable celebration of
culture, empowerment, and community spirit.
