Native New Orleanian Jan Ramsey has worked for OffBeat for more than thirty years, and in that time has helped spread the word about New Orleans music and culture. A music activist since the 80s, Jan has shown her knowledge and love of music in everything she does. Best known for her "Mojo Mouth" essays, Jan has brought her unique voice and perspective her writing.

Recently, Jan was diagnosed with a rare form of lung cancer. She will receive intensive treatment for this cancer and needs financial help. A GoFundMe has been started to help Jan and her husband with the expenses, both medical and living, that they are experiencing at this time.
