Looking for something to do over the weekend? If you're still bummed about French Quarter Fest being cancelled, it's not too late to purchase Early Bird Special tickets at $100 for the 4th annual Improvisations Gala!
"Encouraging Education and Improvisation for a New Generation of Musicians," which is this year's theme, will take place at the New Orleans Jazz Museum on Saturday, December 4, from 7 to 11 p.m. Funds will go towards supporting the New Orleans' cultural community, which consists of musicians, students, educators, and the museum itself.
The gala will kick off with the Patron Party at 7 p.m., which will feature an exclusive Balcony Concert performance by the local trumpeter group Trumpet Mafia. Food and cocktails will also be provided. Tickets for the Patron Party cost $300.
After the party, guests can also enjoy fine New Orleans cuisine, envied auction items, and a Sound Collage installation, where they can observe sculptures and dance performances. This year's line-up will feature the talents of local and national musicians such as trumpeter Wendell Brunious, drummer Herlin Riley, guitarist Mahmoud Chouki, vocalist Gabrielle Cavassa, and Mardi Gras Indian tribe Bo Dollis Jr. & the Wild Magnolias.
