Delacroix Restaurant in Paris
Delacroix Restaurant, a popular place in Spanish Plaza where the New Orleans meets the Mississippi River, has been chosen by the U.S. Embassy in France as the sole restaurant representative during this summer's Paris en Seine celebrations.
Delacroix, Chef Wiley Lewis, and General Manager Roger Eyles will travel to Paris as culinary and cultural ambassadors and will bring Louisiana's unique food, music, and Southern hospitality to France.
Only a few places in America connect to France as deeply as Louisiana does. The centuries of shared history between the two places bridge together Louisiana's unique culture. With support from TABASCO® Brand Pepper Sauce, Delacroix's participation aims to strengthen the Franco-American relationship by connecting people through food, music, and hospitality.
"Food has a remarkable ability to bring people together," Emilie Vidrine, French Cultural Producer for Louisiana in France, said in a press release. "Some of the most meaningful conversations begin around a table, and Louisiana understands that better than almost anywhere. Its culture has always been about hospitality, community and connection, making Delacroix the perfect ambassador for America during this celebration."
Over the Fourth of July holiday, an inauguration ceremony at the historic Petit Palais will take place. Chef Lewis will prepare Southern Louisiana cuisine for guests such as the Mayor of Paris, U.S. Ambassador Charles Kushner, and other important figures. A traditional New Orleans second line procession will end the night with a procession from the Champs-Éylées to the Eiffel Tower.
"To represent not just Louisiana, but the entire United States in Paris is one of the greatest honors of my career," Delacroix's Chef Wiley Lewis said in a press release. "Every dish we serve tells a story about where we come from - the Mississippi River, the Gulf Coast, the bayous, and the generations of cooks who shaped Louisiana's cuisine. We are proud to share that story with the world and to show how New Orleans continues to connect cultures through food, music, and heartfelt hospitality."
