New Orleans' Local Arts & Culture Scene
A cornerstone of the New Orleans identity is the dedication to arts, culture, and building up of the broader community. Nobody understands this better than Culture Collision—an annual celebration meant to showcase the diverse array of local nonprofits.
On Wednesday, August 28, Culture Collision will take place at the Jefferson Parish Performing Arts Center, hosting a variety of organizations that exhibit the best literary, musical, visual, performing arts, and cultural endeavors from around the city. Located at 6400 Airline Dr. in Metairie, the venue is an accessible building and will provide free parking for all attendees.
An evening focused on showcasing and emphasizing the importance of New Orleans' cultural community, the event will run from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Guests are invited to visit and connect with local nonprofits, enjoy food, drinks, free giveaways, and live performances.
There will be a varying lineup of popular organizations, from arts focused ones like Crescent City Stage, New Orleans Film Society, and the Women's National Book Association of New Orleans to cultural based ones like the Asian/Pacific American Society, Japan Society of New Orleans, and Friends of Culture.
Dedicated to diversifying, including, and platforming the native arts, humanities, and culture scene, Culture Collision was launched in 2008 by WWNO and is excited to welcome the public to this celebration. Whether you're a theater-fan, prefer to keep informed about the current best reads, or are invested in understanding and experiencing cultural communities around New Orleans, this event is for you. Not only will the evening bring insight into the achievements of New Orleans based organizations, but it will inspire community members to continue to support and engage in an important aspect of the city's traditions.
So, mark your calendars for August 28 and prepare to enjoy a fun-filled evening of good food, live performances, and lively engagement with your local community. For further information, visit Culture Collision's website.
