Fat City's Cinco De Mayo Fest Takes on Another Day

Fat City, a region in Metairie filled with restaurants and shops, is celebrating their 8th Annual Cinco De Mayo Fest. As this festival has gained much attention over the years, Fat City's Cinco De Mayo Fest will be adding another day to the festival this year to continue the celebrations.

Fat City's Cinco De Mayo Fest, hosted by Los Jefes Grill and sponsored by Avion Tequila and Modelo Beer, will be on Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5. The festival is located in Fat City Park, located at 3270 Hessmer Ave. The entrance will open at 3 p.m., but the live music and entertainment festivities are from 4-10 p.m.

This two-day celebration is a 21+ event full of music, food, drinks, entertainment, and even a special contest on Sunday. Think you have a special talent for eating abnormal amounts of tacos? Then you're in luck because there will be a Taco Eating Contest on Sunday, May 5 at 5:30 p.m. There will also be unlimited tacos from Los Jefes Grill and Bobby Herbet's Cajun Cannon if you buy the Avion VIP Experience package.

Grab food from one of the many food trucks, an Avion margarita or Modelo Micheladas (or maybe both), and enjoy the live music by special guests. There will be live performances by That Mexican OT, Mannie Fresh, Choppa, Partners-n-Crime, La Tran K, Subtweet Shawn, Kymbra Li, Margie Perez & Muevelo, and other guests.

Early Bird Tickets are now available for half price. There are different tickets and packages that come with their unique experiences. One-day and two-day general admission, VIP experiences, reserved tables, and sponsored cabanas are all available for purchase. Don't wait to buy your tickets because prices go up at the door.

Benefiting ECCO

Fat City's Cinco De Mayo Fest will be giving its proceeds to benefit the nonprofit Educate a Child for Change Organization. This organization focuses on equality when it comes to accessing higher education, despite income, culture, language, or immigration status. They also provide guidance for immigrant families, first-generation parents, and students to navigate them through financial aid, admissions, and scholarship opportunities.
