French food is so important to New Orleans cuisine, and the croissant is the most popular morning pastry behind the iconic beignet. Four locals chefs competed at the Southern Food and Beverage Museum to be named French Morning's Best Croissant Chef, and the battle was fierce. The panel of four judges chose La Boulangerie for the Best Croissant, and the audience chose Mayhew Bakery as their favorite. La Petit Sophie Patisserie came close with the Best Chocolate Croissant, and Crossaint d'Or won an honorable mention.
There were no losers as far as the audience was concerned; they loved every flaky, delectable bite of the competition.
