Celebrating Louisiana Luminaries
On Thursday, May 11, the Entergy-sponsored Bright Lights Awards Dinner will return, and for the first time, it will be held at Turners' Hall, the historic building that now houses The Helis Foundation John Scott Center.
A four-story mural created by Ayo Scott, the late John Scott's son, completes the center. His father's well-known public sculptures Spirit House and Ocean Song are featured in Lessons, an ode to generations of New Orleanians, along with a special cameo by his little daughter dressed as Wonder Woman.
Bright Lights will honor our Humanists of the Year from the previous four years with the mural overlooking the occasion, featuring Scott, who was honored posthumously in 2021, Chef John Folse (2023), Ruby Bridges (2022), and Terence Blanchard (2020).
