Blue October at the Fillmore

"There something oddly familiar in the air" was the thought that kept coming back to me all night, as Blue October took over the Fillmore's stage. I had not listened to Blue October for a while, but the show was a monument to the band's staying power.

The memorable lyrics give the audience a safe place to stay, and the band willingly takes them along on the journey. Their North America 2022 tour highlights this year's release Spinning the Truth Around (Part 1). The set was a nice combination of that album and seven of their past ten releases. Justin Furstenfeld, the band's lead singer was a ball of energy and expressed his love for the city all night. He took several moments during to show to reminisce on the past and give stories of how many of his songs developed. Surprisingly, the band played a couple of their most famous songs before the end of the set or even in the encore, which made the rest of the evening an even bigger surprise.
