Black CannaCon Came To Town

Medical and recreational cannabis are hot button topics right now as so many states have legalized both usages of marijuana. Louisiana has yet to legalize recreational marijuana, and we haven't gotten our footing on legalized medical marijuana yet. But that did not stop Black CannaCon from coming to town to link up those making a difference who are people of color in the industry. What I found was that our state is so far behind in the realm of cannabis that we may find it difficult to keep up with everyone else as the industry booms.

I enjoyed speaking to several entrepreneurs and organization leaders who discussed their work. Prehemium is a honey stick infused with full-spectrum CBD that can be used in beverages, cooking, or even enjoyed straight from the tube. Blackstar Diversified Enterprises is a locally-based minority-owned company that creates custom electrical distribution equipment and more. Courtesy Grows is an organization that has a Cannabis Awareness component. As interest grows in CBD and THC products for the masses, Courtesy Grows wants to increase cannabis literacy, focusing on social responsibility, community involvement, and addiction issues.

I had a great time talking to William Davis, owner of Euphoria Eats. William was formerly in the military, and he found CBD was the best way to handle the anxiety he was experiencing. He makes delicious CBD-infused barbecue and hot sauces that can go on all of your favorite foods.
