Inaugural Big Easy Open
The Jefferson Convention and Visitors Bureau has announced that the inaugural Big Easy Open Disc Golf Pro Tour will be coming to Marrero's Parc des Familles in March 2026.
The world's top professional disc golfers will head to Jefferson Parish in the spring of 2026 as tour organizers bring an Elite Series tournament to Louisiana for the very first time. Taking place from Friday, March 13, to Sunday, March 15, Parc des Familles, the state's number-one-ranked disc golf course, will host more than 150 disc golf players who will compete.

President & CEO of the Jefferson Convention & Visitors Bureau Violet Peters, as well as Jefferson Parish Councilwoman-At-Large Jennifer Van Vrancken, announced this plan and noted that this exciting tournament will bring a significant amount of tourism to the area.
Peters stated in a press release, "While I am excited to host the tour, its competitors and guests, I am equally as excited about the amount of promotion that the event will bring to both social media and broadcast."
The Big Easy Open is a direct result of a collaborative effort between Jefferson Parish, the New Orleans Disc Golf Club, and Visit Jefferson Parish. "Much of the credit for landing this major event should go to the Jefferson Parish Council, especially Councilwoman-At-Large Jennifer Van Vrancken, who had the vision to see how this tournament could further boost our $2 billion tourism industry," Peters said.
Professionals will compete for prize money at the Big Easy Open tournament and earn points toward the season-long standings, which determine qualification for the Disc Golf Pro Tour Championship at the end of the season. In 2024, over 700 players competed on the Disc Golf Pro Tour for over $3 million in prizes. 900,000 future visitors are expected to be watching through the Disc Golf Pro Tour's streaming channel to learn about the amenities of Jefferson Parish. Over five million social media impressions are expected to amplify the visibility of Jefferson Parish's unique offerings and inspire future travel among disc golf enthusiasts and beyond.
