You probably spend plenty of time going to the bar—but what if the bar could come to you? That’s the idea behind the Bellhop Bar by Loews Hotels. Now through January 13 at the Loews New Orleans Hotel, you can take advantage of a fun new concept: a rolling, mobile, pop-up bar in an old, converted steamer trunk, featuring two specialty cocktails. Choose between the “Old Fashion Streetcar Named Desire,” a fresh new take on an Old Fashioned, made with Angel’s Envy Bourbon, Demerara, and bitters; or the “She Lykes it Sweet,” with vodka, pomegranate liqueur, Chambord, and cranberry and lemon juices. The Bellhop Bar also offers a still and sparkling wine selection. As the folks at Loews describe it, it’s “cocktails at your service,” brought to you from a “luggage-shaped bar on wheels,” which opens and closes just like a real suitcase. (While you’re there, stop by Bar Peters, the hotel bar, for some great Happy Hour bites or a deal on a cocktail. Try the Sticky Ribs, which are some of the best ribs you’ll ever have and only $6 during Happy Hour, accompanied by a delicious Lucy Broussard cocktail at the same bargain price.)
Available from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily in the hotel lobby, the Bellhop Bar is based on some of the best things in life: travel, good memories, and cocktails. Just walk up to the bar and ring the bell, like you would to summon a bellhop in the olden days, and Brittany or one of the other members of the stellar bar staff will come out and mix you a cocktail with a twist of novelty. As they say at Loews, “Sit down, relax, and let us unpack you a cocktail.”
