Krewe of Bacchus Parade Preview

February 11 may be Super Bowl Sunday around the country, but here in New Orleans, it is Bacchus Sunday.

Celebrating 55 years, the Krewe of Bacchus is one of the significant krewes of the Mardi Gras season, traditionally parading along the Uptown route on the Sunday before Fat Tuesday.

Keeping with the traditions, the krewe opened their float den to more than 3000 people, including members, friends, and family, for their annual float den party this past Sunday, January 28.

The den party was an excellent preview of what's coming in the next few weekends. Along with the reveal of this year's theme, "Take a Number." Guests got a unique up-close view of this year's floats, which each represent numbers with characters including 007James Bond, Cruella De Vil and the 101 Dalmatians, the Three Little Pigs, and much more.

Not only were the beautifully decorated floats on display, but guests also enjoyed good food, festive cocktails, live brass music, and other family-friendly events, including balloon artistry and caricature artists.

During this year's parade, patrons can expect to see "Entourage" actor and Emmy nominee Kevin Dillon reigning as the 2023 King of Bacchus. And while Bacchus is known for its awesome cups and light-up beads, another fun throw this year will be socks, where each float will have its own unique socks to throw.

As for this year's most wanted throw, Krewe of Bacchus Captain Clark Brennan predicts it will be the ever-so-cute Dalmatian Hat. Like last year's coveted Mr. Bingle throw, the Dalmatian Hat is set to be a hit.

Krewe of Bacchus rolls on Sunday, February 11, at 5:15 p.m. See you on the route!
