MechaCon will be returning to New Orleans one last time in less than a week for a convention anime fans will not soon forget! MechaCon: Omega was supposed to take place in July of 2020, but was naturally cancelled due to COVID. The organization planned for that convention to be its final iteration, so now this year's annual anime convention, first started in 2004 in Lafayette, will be the last of its kind.

Pre-registration has closed, but tickets to the con are available at the door during the convention at the Hyatt Regency, located at 601 Loyola Ave., from July 23 to July 25. A weekend pass costs $60, Friday only $30, Saturday only $40, and Sunday only is $15.

At the convention, attendees have the opportunity to meet cosplay ambassadors Queen D, Remy Domino, Alliecat Cosplay, and Mikomiko Cosplay. There will also be several anime voice actors at the convention like Major Attaway, Steve Blum, Dani Chambers, Cynthia Cranz, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, Daman Mills, and Wendy Powell. Music ambassadors Lisa Furukawa, Mon Negros Productions, and Suzaku 7 will also be at MechaCon.

Some of the can't miss events of the convention are the opening ceremonies, in which attendees will be introduced to guests, the cosplay contest, cosplay burlesque (though this event is only for those 18 and older), or any number of the variety of panels like Funimation OG, Sailor Moon Says…Self Care, and voice actor Q&As. Looking for a bit of MechaCon nightlife? Visit Club FTL, which is the con's premiere interstellar nightclub.

Attendees can also enjoy tabletop and electronic gaming during the convention, as well as the Mechamaid Clubhouse, a family-friendly attraction based on the maid's cafe found in Akihabara, Japan. Tickets to this are not included in the initial ticket purchase for the convention.
