Crescent Care: A Compassionate New Orleans Nonprofit

Crescent Care is a nonprofit organization providing social and medical services to the Greater New Orleans area. Noel Twillbeck, the CEO of Crescent Care, states that they view food as medicine in addition to housing and other services. Twillbeck additionally acknowledges that "food insecurity is a major issue across the country and in our community."

Food For Friends is Crescent Care's pantry which provides groceries, personal care items, and household products to the Greater New Orleans area. This program feeds over 600 individuals and families and serves more than 138,000 pounds of food each year.

"How is someone supposed to get on the road to recovery without proper nutrition, housing, and good medical care? That is the recipe of our success," he said.

Food shortages and rising inflation have increased the expense of operating Crescent Care's food program that assists individuals living with HIV in the community.

Food & Friends: An Event Not to be Missed

Food for Friends and Avita Pharmacy are joining forces and hosting a fundraising culinary spectacular called Food & Friends. It will transpire on Thursday, August 18 at the Maison Dupuy Hotel from 6-9. Food & Friends tickets are $100 for music and auction, and food, with 150 tickets being sold. Strawberry delight salad, prime rib and/or shrimp and grits, hor d'oeuvres, and Banana's Foster are among the dishes that will be served at the extravaganza.

"This is a first-class culinary event", said CrescentCare Development Director Rodney Thoulion. "Tired of rubber chicken or dried fish, you won't get that here. You are guaranteed to have a tasty extravaganza while helping out an important program".

A large percentage of the event's supplies were donated by the community, and 100% of ticket sales will benefit the program and its clientele. Tickets are available for Food & Friends Extravaganza here.
