A Little Buzzed
New
Orleans native and filmmaker-turned-novelist Alys Murray is celebrating the
release of her newest romantic comedy novel, A Little Buzzed, with
a spirited book event on February 24 at Garden District Books, and it promises
plenty of laughs, heart, and just the right amount of intrigue.
Already
earning glowing praise from Kirkus Reviews and endorsements from bestselling
romance authors including Navessa Allen, Sierra Simone, and Lana
Ferguson, A Little Buzzed is quickly becoming one of 2026's
most talked-about rom-coms. The story centers on two unlikely collaborators
whose professional partnership turns into a hilarious and heartfelt journey of
discovery and unexpected connection. Through a few awkward learning curves,
their experiments in teamwork lead to surprising results, both in their careers
and in their hearts. Expect plenty of moments that will make readers smile,
blush, and root for love.
Perfect for fans of Ali Hazelwood, the novel blends humor, romance, and emotional warmth while exploring the idea that sometimes stepping just slightly outside your comfort zone can lead to big, life-changing results. At its heart, A Little Buzzed is a celebration of self-discovery, empowerment, and taking ownership of your happiness, both in life and in love.

From Hollywood to the Heart of New Orleans
Murray, a
born-and-bred New Orleanian, is no stranger to storytelling. A graduate of
NYU's Tisch School of the Arts with a Master's degree from King's College
London, she has written screenplays for Hallmark and Lifetime films
including New Orleans Noel and My Southern Family
Christmas, proudly showcasing Louisiana's charm and culture on screen.
After
years of writing sweet, small-town romances, Murray found inspiration for A
Little Buzzed in an unexpected way, through a unique behind-the-scenes
role in a world of playful innovation. Fascinated by the experience, she
quickly realized it would be the perfect setting for a romantic comedy. The
result is a story that feels fresh, modern, and delightfully mischievous.
Now back
home in New Orleans, Murray continues to juggle filmmaking and fiction while
supporting local organizations including Bike Easy, Ride NOLA, and The Company:
A Community Theatre of St. Bernard. She is also a passionate advocate for
accessibility and inclusion in the arts, bringing thoughtful storytelling and
authentic representation to every project she takes on.

A Boozy, Bookish Night in the Garden District
Murray
will celebrate the book's release with a special event on February 24 at 6 p.m.
at Garden District Books, featuring themed cocktails and a lively on-stage
conversation with fellow local author Molly Tullis. Guests can expect laughs,
literary fun, and a behind-the-scenes look at the inspiration behind A
Little Buzzed, followed by a book signing.
Described
as "boozy, bawdy, and bookish," the evening invites guests to bring their
favorite reading friends, sip a delicious cocktail, and enjoy a night dedicated
to great stories, good company, and a little sparkle. Admission is
complimentary, with the option to purchase signed copies and exclusive
release-day goodies.
With its
humor, heart, and unmistakable New Orleans flair, A Little Buzzed is
shaping up to be one of the must-read releases of the season, and this Garden
District celebration is the perfect way to toast to it.
