For 64 years, WYES has worked to inform, teach, illuminate, entertain, and inspire the New Orleans community. Their latest project is inspired by the Ken Burns documentary that aired on PBS following the life of Ernest Hemingway, which led to the creation of an annual gala named after the American novelist, short-story writer, journalist, and sportsman. Check out The Worlds of Hemingway, presented by Oscar J. Thomas Charitable Trust, on September 30, 2021, at the WYES Paulette and Frank Stewart Innovation Center for Educational Media, located at 916 Navarre Ave.
The Patron Party begins at 6:30 p.m. and tickets are $500 per person. The gala, however, starts at 8 p.m. with tickets at $200 per person. Junior prices—such as $225 for the Patron Party and $100 for gala—are available for ages 21-40. All event tickets include free parking, food, and cocktails. The gala event co-chairs are Amanda and Ryan Berger, Jennifer and Fred Heebe, and Lori and Bobby Savoie. WYES will remain in compliance with city, state, and CDC recommendations to ensure the event runs safely and smoothly.
To get into the Hemingway spirit, guests are encouraged to wear Hemingway inspired attire or cocktail attire while enjoying cuisine by CELEBRATE! Catered Events by Windsor Court, as well as entertainment by The Boogie Men thanks to LCI Workers' Comp. Libations provided by Sazerac Company and Crescent Crown Distributing, and wines will be provided by Bizou Wines.
The online auction, sponsored by The Orpheum, has more than 100 items on display. There are a variety of travel and sporting adventures to choose from, including fishing in Key West, fly fishing in Jackson Hole, big game fishing in Belize, white water rafting, golfing, and more, as well as stays at luxury resorts in exciting places such as Hilton Head, Cabo, and Sedona. Not only that, but you can also bid on bourbon tours, wine trips, staycations, and a fabulous array of home furnishings, accessories, and gift certificates to local restaurants and boutiques. The options are endless! You can begin placing bids September 23, 2021.
