Boozy Culinary Events During Women's History Month
There are many ways to show your support for women during Women's History Month, and these two culinary events are the perfect options. Celebrate Chef Nina Compton and Chef Melissa Araujo, two fabulous women chefs, at their booze-filled events at BABs and Alma Cafe.
A Bourbon-Filled Evening at BABs
Join BABs on Thursday, March 21 from 5:30-10 p.m. for an evening of delicious food and the finest bourbons. Chef Nina Compton, along with her husband Larry Miller, are partnering with Garrison Brothers Distillery for a culinary adventure filled with booze. There will be specifically selected bourbons from the family-owned bourbon distillery from Texas. The bourbons will paired with the four-course meal Chef Compton has crafted. The head bartender, Rick Powanda, will have special cocktails that will contain spirits from Garrison Brothers.
First Course: Hamachi Tartar with Calabrian Chili Sorbet and Hibiscus Gold Rush paired with Garrison Brothers Honeydew
Second Course: Pork Belly with Ceci Bean Puree and Rosemary Jus paired with Garrison Brother Balmorhea
Third Course: Braciole with Creamy Polenta paired with Garrison Old Fashioned
Fourth Course: Mascarpone Semifreddo with Stewed Local Berries paired with Garrison Brothers Guadalupe

Rum-Tasting and Tapas at Alma Cafe
James Beard Foundation Best Chef Southeast 2024 Semifinalist, Melissa Araujo, will be partnering with Olivia Stewart for a night of rum tasting and tasty tapas. Alma Cafe's Araujo and Oxbow Rum Distillery's Olivia Stewart are collaborating for a special evening at Alma Cafe. Oxbow Rum Distillery is a single estate rum distillery in South Louisiana. This event will be taking place on Friday, March 22 from 6-8 p.m.
Alma Cafe's Handcrafted Creations
Alma Cafe's Head Bartender, Mark Preston, created a list of speciality cocktails that will feature rum from the Oxbow Rum Distillery. The rum cocktail list will include Chef Old Fashioned, Oxbow Boulevardier, Gray Hemingway, and a Classic Mojito. The drinks will be served with delicious tapas, including Alma Oysters, Bayou Rosa Oysters with a vinaigrette, New England-style Lobster Roll, Camarones a la Diabla, and a Tuna Ceviche.
